The thought of missing all or most of your teeth can be discomforting. However, the reality is that it can happen. Gum disease accounts for 70% of tooth loss in adults. Other causes of tooth loss include cavities, tooth decay, and dental trauma.

Losing your teeth is never fun, but the good news is that you can restore your smile with dental implants. At Maegan Elam, DDS & Associates, we suggest single implants for patients missing one or two teeth. Still, if you are missing teeth in one or both arches, we recommend full-mouth dental implants to help you regain your confidence and become the best version of yourself.

Dr. Maegan Elam works with an oral surgeon who will place the implants in your jaw. Once the implant has osseointegrated with the jawbone, you will make an appointment with us when we restore your implant with a crownbridge, or full mouth implant-supported denture in the upper or lower arch.

What are full dental arch implants?

If you have lost all or most of your teeth, you can replace your missing teeth with implants. However, you will not need an implant for every lost tooth — this can be too costly and time-consuming.

Implant-supported dentures sit on four or more implants strategically installed in your mouth. The dentures connect to the implant posts and only touch your gums lightly. These dentures don’t need suction or adhesives for stability.

Benefits of replacing your teeth with full-mouth dental implants

Traditional dentures are quick and cost-effective tooth replacements. Unfortunately, dentures don’t work for everyone. Replacing an entire arch of teeth with dental implants results in a better-looking smile, but that’s hardly the only perk. All-on-4 dental implants offer numerous benefits, including:

  • They are cost-effective — you only need a few dental implants to replace your missing teeth
  • They are long-lasting
  • Implant-supported dentures prevent bone loss
  • They are far more stable and comfortable than traditional dentures
  • They are easy to maintain
  • Implant-supported dentures are natural-looking
