ClearCorrect Aligners in Bedford
Never underestimate the value of straight teeth—not only in terms of how a well-aligned smile looks and how it makes you feel. There are also oral health benefits; straight teeth are much easier to clean, which means your risk of tooth decay and gum disease is reduced. As an adult, however, you may not want to contend with traditional braces. In that case, Megan Elam, DDS & David L. Brown, DDS are pleased to offer ClearCorrect in Bedford, Texas.
Unlike standard braces that use metal brackets and wires to realign teeth, ClearCorrect uses clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into proper position. These are far less conspicuous, so you’ll be able to engage in your normal social and professional activities without worrying about people seeing your braces. Other than when you are close up, ClearCorrect aligners are barely noticeable.
ClearCorrect can be used to treat a number of orthodontic concerns, including teeth that are overcrowded or crooked as well as an underbite, overbite or crossbite. Dr. Elam will assess your teeth and bite in order to determine whether or not ClearCorrect is the right choice for your orthodontic treatment.
If so, then you are probably only 12 to 24 months away from having that straight, beautiful and healthy smile. Prior to the start of treatment, we’ll compile a collection of digital x-rays, molded impressions, and photos of your teeth. Along with measurements of your mouth, these provide the technicians at ClearCorrect with the information they need to design aligners that are customized to address your specific orthodontic needs.
The aligners arrive in pairs—one for your upper arch of teeth and one for the lower—and in organized sets. You’ll wear each pair for about two weeks and then move on to the next. As you advance through the set, you’ll begin to see your teeth move.
In order to complete your orthodontic treatment on time, you will need to wear your clear braces for around 22 hours a day. The other two hours of the day will be for mealtime and oral hygiene. That’s another great advantage of ClearCorrect—they are removable! Unlike traditional brackets and wires that are cemented to your teeth, you can take out your ClearCorrect braces and enjoy your regular diet and easily brush and floss your teeth.
